The WHO also gives frightening forecasts regarding the worldwide increase in this disease. &#8220;It&#8217;s like a tsunami coming our way,&#8221; said Duque, whose sister died of COPD. As the main cause of COPD, he cites smoking (including passive smoking) and the associated damage to lung tissue; other causes are longer stays in polluted environments \u2013 due to smoke, dust, exhaust fumes \u2013 or asthma.<\/p>\n<p>In this context, the therapist mentions the company Airnergy, a medical device manufacturer from Hennef, which has developed a device for spirovital therapy, with the help of which COPD patients opened up new perspectives: the improvement of energy absorption via the lungs without having to take more and more medication or supply more oxygen. &#8220;We can&#8217;t change our bodies, but we can change the quality of the air, which is the most important food for us,&#8221; says Duque. Without eating, we could survive for three weeks without drinking: three days, but without breathing: three minutes. The importance of air can therefore hardly be overestimated.
